Trading Computers

Your laptop and computer reviews seem to focus almost exclusively on gamers and their needs; however, there is a decent size market of traders (people who day trade stocks, futures, and options) who are also looking for more powerful devices to suite their needs. While traders do not need 144htz refresh rates or ray tracing, they do need to be able to process large amounts of data and connect multiple monitors (4-6). Many like to have laptops they can travel with or take into the office to continue trading at a day job and also be able to connect 4-6 monitors at home.

Different trading platforms make different demands. Something like Ninja Trader can use multi-core processors and tends to use less ram and power than an application like think-or-swim. Think-or-swim also seems to demand more of the GPU. As it requires more resources, cooling can be a big issue. Sitting next to a computer with loud fans for 6-8 hours can be annoying and tiring.

While many traders choose gaming laptops, there may be better options for attaching multiple monitors and processing large amounts of data in real-time. Traders may not need super fast graphics cards, but they do need enough connections and power to run multiple monitors continuously updating charts.

In trading forums and chat rooms, there are frequently requests for laptop and computer recommendations. Would you consider adding reviews geared towards day traders? I think it would be a good service and help you build a larger audience for your videos.

  1. You should post suggestions to official threads (found pinned in LTT Official).
  2. This, like any business/enterprise hardware, isn't really gonna gather such audience that LTT would feature it. Because:
  3. You can use same high end machines for pretty much anything that are focused on gaming. Or you go for stealth/slim versions LTT already features fairly regularly.
  4. Business grade stuff is still something written reviews are better. Mainly because those sites have done their testing for last 20 years on the subject. They know what their audience wants.
