b350 motherboard and 3rd gen ryzen

i currently am using a ryzen 5 1500x on a msi 350 pro-vdh motherboard. i am planning to upgrade to the ryzen 5 3600x. i was wondering if this cpu is compatible with my motherboard. im not very good with computer stuff so thanks in advance

You'd have to update BIOS but MSI is supporting Ryzen 3000 in that mobo source: https://www.msi.com/blog/the-latest-bios-for-amd-300-400-series-motherboard

 

I don't think AMD is recommending it but if MSI has drivers then why not I think.

check msi website for that exact motherboard, check for bios update umder support section for that model, check if they have released a new version supporting it, shluld be a new bios version from may or june this year, if that is the case, follow the msi methods offered to install new bios, to get the support you want
