2080 hitting crazy temps

So I recently install my new EVGA 2080 XC Ultra Gaming which has a great heat sink and 2 fans. After 100% load and 130% TDP in MSI Kombustor, it maxed out the temperature allowed by the GPU. Even after a exhaling fan switched to intake fan, it still had temps 80+. It couldn't even stay under 80 degrees at max fan. The only thing that would help was the side tempered glass being removed and what would really help was a big fan I had blowing into the case. Although it is summer and very hot, this still seems overly hot to me. Does anyone know why it was hitting these temps? I have a Corsair 460x with an H100i Platinum in the front because my Vengeance RGB Pro's are too tall to have the radiator fit there. I have 2 phanteks case fans on pulling on the radiator with the LL120 Whites pushing. I have 3 other fans, 2 intaking and 1 exhaling.

Primary PC:

You say it's very hot out... What is the actual temp in the room.

The XCs are hot.

 

My 2080 ti XC is hot as well. All you can do is manage it or go water. 

 

Going from 100% to 130% power target will put you in the 80s. Here is the difference on my XC.

I find if I keep the temps below 84c I can maintain 1920mhz. I have even had to drop the clock from +200 to +117 to do this.

 

With this setup I gain 10 to 15fps so I would not like to give it up.

 

I am thinking about getting a EVGA HYBRID Cooler for it since it clock well even if it does not have the cooling to support it.

What are you getting when you're running a game?

Well I haven't tried many games because of my current obsession with Minecraft, but in Minecraft at maxed settings and keeping under 42 degrees. This is about my idle temperature just with fans.

That's what I guessed it could be, any suggestions for fresh air?

Thank you for telling me about your experience with XC cards. This is good to know about the power targets so I can keep my card cool. I'll experiment with settings for maximum cooling and FPS. Would you happen to know why XC cards are so hot?

If you're setting the power target to 130%, you're asking the GPU to consume more power so it can perform better, which generates more heat. You're probably pushing the card's cooling system to the limit.

In most games it is not a big issue for me since I play on high resolution 60/75hz monitors. The XC can run most games at 4k with high to ultra settings at 80fps. Since my monitor is 60hz I have it vsynced (60fps) so for most of the time the XC is running between 90 to 110% on the power target. If I remove the vsync to run a benchmark the card is very noisy.

 

The games that are too hot, too noisy are the ones that run close to 60fps so the XC has to run at 130%. The main culprits are Assassin's Creed Odyssey/Origins and Metro Exodus with RT on.

 

If I was running a high refresh rate monitor it would be more of an issue for me.
