Ordering parts now or later for new build

Naxy
Go to solution Solved by APasz,

The CPU, RAM, Mobo, GPU are the most likely to change in price.

The other components are generally stable.

Note: that things may deffer in your local area.

Unless you can use any parts you order now, I'd wait, just in case there is a scheduled price drop soon.

Hello:

I am building a new gaming system, and am planning on using the new 5700 XT. But I do not want to get the blower edition and in-tern going to wait till a better cooling system for it comes out (some sources say middle of August). Though I am wondering whether I should order the rest of the parts for my build now, then order the GPU when it comes out (which could be in a month or more) or order all the parts at once, when the GPU comes out.

My build;

The prices aren't going up for sure. I'd wait.

true, true. But there wouldn't be any problems/issues if I got some of the parts in the next week or so? Like its ok for them just to sit on my shelf for like a month?

Sounds like a plan. Though I did notice some parts like the AIO, PSU, and the SSD are on sale on sites like NewEgg, would it be wise to nab those parts?

No, but if you do that you'll miss out on potential price drops.

I know what's it like to just want everything to just fucking be here already, like, come on, I just wanna touch it and have it already - but it might come at a cost. Besides, think how awesome it would be to get alllll the parts at once and do an awesome unboxing and assemble everything. I'm personally very jealous.

Yeah, that's kind of what I am feeling. I want to order the parts but, probably better and wait till the GPU is available, and than gather all of the parts at once.

Computer components generally don't go on sale due to their low margins.

So if it's good deal, may as well.

Well on NewEgg (Canada) right now the SDD, case, and AIO in my build are on sale right now.

Those are decent discounts on the AIO and SSD.

The case will depend on shipping. I'm not sure how Newegg handles that.

Because the case the largest part, it might end up costing more shipping it by itself.

Unless you get free shipping, in which case it's a mute point,

Yeah, the case is, well, the case. But the other two parts, with the sale, are worth getting?

If I was in your situation, I'd probably get them. 24% and 28% are pretty good.

Sounds good. I will hold off on the other parts until either the price drops or just until the GPU I am looking for is available. Thanks for your help and suggestions!

You don't actually need X570 for a mid-range system. Consider B450 or X470, those are a lot cheaper, for example, the MSI B450 Tomahawk with great VRM.

Also, such a cooler isn't really needed, it's spending close to 40% of the CPU budget; you could go for a $50 stronger CPU while still having a decent $50 air cooler.

And do wait for the 5700 series with better cooling, wait a few months, but use a cheap card while you wait and flip it once you get the new/strong one.

I will take a look at those mobo's. Thanks

I was planning on waiting for a better cooling system for the XT, and than build my system all at once.
