Gaming build | Up to $2500

Could use some help creating a build for new gaming/work rig.

Most likely going with the 3900x, not to sure about what GPU to go with since the 2080 super is releasing at the end of the month I believe. So can just leave the card spot blank if the best option is to wait.

Thanks everyone. ☺️

If you won't be doing any productivity work like rendering or 3D modeling, etc., then the 9900K is still the king for gaming. It might be worth waiting for the 2080 super, as it supposedly will perform pretty close to a 2080 Ti for $700, plus it has ray tracing dedicated hardware, but if you didn't want to wait until the end of the month, the 5700 XT is also a compelling value right now. Although, your budget actually does allow for the 2080 Ti, which is slated to remain the best, so what I'll do is add that in and have you decide on what GPU path to take:

The type of work I do would benefit more from the Ryzen. But I'll definitely keep the 9900k in mind still.

It would help to list what type of work you do along with what games you play and such. Read the thread at the top: Build Plan Thread Recommendations.

A lot of running Multi-threaded programs, 3D modeling, etc. As for games, to many to post. I play a lot of them.

It's going to be mainly used for gaming though, but I will do work from time to time on this build. Hope that helped.

If you can make use of the 12 cores here is a 3900X option. The 9900K is still faster purely for gaming, but at 1440p/165Hz it isn't that much of a gap as it is at 1080p/144Hz. If gaming is the priority then the 3700X saves a bit of cash. You could stil chuck a 12c/16c in later on.
