2700x vs 3600 cost efft

Microcenter dropped the price of the ryzen 7 2700x to 199 usd which match with the ryzen 3600

The 2700x: gets another 30 usd off from microcenter when buying a x470 board which brings its price down to 170 and a better stock cooler (wraith prism)

The 3600 is benchmarks better in game when using the same cooler, but what about when they are both using their stock cooler ?

I am trying to decide if the 170 usd 2700x with the wraith prism is a better buy than the 3600 which seem to br better (which I waited all this time for, and then microcenter dropped this sale)

This computer I am building is for running Matlab, games, and just general uses ( it is being paired with an normal rtx2070 that I repurpose from another build)

The 3700x is not out of the question if the  200 usd cpu is a bottleneck for the rtx2070 in games, but I am focusing on cost effectiveness
