As the topic says, what would people suggest when it comes to internet security, aka firewall/anti virus, im currently using the free comodo one, i guess its alright, but i dont really mind spending a bit of cash and getting something proper, before comodo i had f-secure wich i basicly rented from my isp, just added a small amount more to the internet bill, wasnt really happy with f-secure tho, didnt seem to do its job all that well. Comodo seems to work alright, but it can also be quite a pain in the ass.

So i guess the question comes to 2 parts, what would people suggest if were to buy something, or is there a better free solution out there?

Thanks in advance.

Best internet security is a program that comes pre-installed in all humans, although some just haven't turned it on. The app is called "Common Sense".

Bundle that with Avast  and you should be fine.

I've been a MSE guy for a while. It's slim and works.

Recently been putting Avast on customer computers and it works great. Little more graphical than I would like but its caught things MSE didn't.

That's true, might give Avast ago again, havent used them in years, MSE im not so sure about and yes obviously common sense is quite often a good thing, but i still like to be more safe, you never know when you screw up.

Thought MSE wasnt very good, everytime i read something about it, its like "MSE fails to catch 30% of blabla"

No Anti Virus is 100% invulnerable; keep that in mind. Just be mindful of the websites you're visiting and you'll be fine.

That's a Pro Tip right there. ^^

Also watch out for USB devices, sounds silly but i cleaned a nasty bit of work of an iPod once multiply times actually.

MSE is still in the top of the runnings. It catches a lot. The tests show Avast being the clear winner.

There are rankings... and everyone is praising Bitdefender... it does have some good test results, but in real life viruses, trojans worms and the like are not necessarily well known by the anti-virus officianados. In most cases I suggest nod32. Less false-positive response since it's not being programmed by idiots (oh, some apps include input managing apps along with them, because it's apart of the advertised function: lets classify that as a threat and dump it in quarantine as the user is running the main application, that will ultimately fail in its sole purpose - ptui).
