the ryzen 7 2700 is much slower in gaming than the i7 7700k. It has twice as many cores but that doesn't help FPS at all.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Is there a reason you swapped a 7700k with a 2700x? Ryzen 3000 comes out in a week and will likely be far better in gaming than Ryzen 2000

So I just swapped to a Ryzen 7 2700 from a i7 7700K and ever since I made the swap I have lost a considerable amount of FPS. Is there a reason why and how can I fix this. My GPU is a 1070

Go into MASSIVE AMOUNTS of Detail on your SPECS alone.

We need more info on your setup,...and how its likely setup.

Stock clocked, stock Slower Ram, with even GPU bound games,.. yeah you'll definitely take a decent loss in some/most titles.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Okay everything is stock. I am running 16 gigs of 3000mhz ddr4 not OC'd at all since I don't even know how to do that. I can't remember my Mobo model but I do know it is a Aorus Pro Wi-Fi. Nvidia 1070. Ryzen 7 2700 and the reason I swapped was my mother board for my 7700k broke and microcenter had a sale going on and it was cheaper for me to swap to a new cpu and motherboard than buy a good motherboard for that chipset. I am a novice if I got any info wrong here I am sorry.

Stock I'm a novice. I don't really know what I am doing.

Well first thing you need to do when looking for help is to provide as much information as you can.  And details matter.  So what motherboard are you using?  What RAM?  And when I say detail -- I am running an ASUS Crosshair VII with a 2x8GB kit of 3600CL15 RAM with the RAM overclocked to CL14.

Edit:

You answered right before I posted this so ignore it now.

Well first step is to get into your BIOS and setup your RAM with XMP/DOCP.  Sorry I can't remember what Gigabyte calls it.

Ryzen 2700 at stock settings is a bit of a dog, as it tries to stay in the 65w tdp and all-core it hangs around 3.4ghz.

Go into the BIOS and change the multiplier to 40x, do like +.100 mv to the adaptive voltage, enable XMP and increase your dram voltage to like 1.36v, and then it should run a little better and closer to the X version.

I've never over clocked before so how do I change the multiplier in here?
