Battery issue with new laptop

Hello all,

 

I recently got a new laptop (for free) it’s a bit old, but I figured maybe I would use it for iTunes movies and stuff like that. 

But...I can’t get the battery to charge. I’ve tried uninstalling drivers, popping out the battery and then reinstalling drivers, but nothing seems to work. 

For reference, it’s an HP G56. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

that seems like a faulty battery or charging circuit on the notebook is faulty, does the battery show up charging?

Some laptops have a disable battery charging button, so click that and the function key. If that doesn't help, the battery is just rooted. The laptop is 10+ years old, it isn't that suprising.

It says “plugged in, not charging” 

 

batteries are cheap, but I wanted to use this today...

Yeah I don’t think this has that...I could be wrong tho.
