Ubuntu any good for laptop??

So recently we got a new laptop and I want to put ubuntu onto the old one!

Is it any good on a laptop?

Will it run at a decent speed, as the laptop is old with 2gigs of ram?

Will it b good for general use like browsing?

Thanks!!

Runs fine on a pentium 4 with 2.5GB of ram, so yes.

No need for Lubuntu , The normal version will run just fine on that laptop.

I'd use Ubuntu or Elementary OS both work wonders, Heres a look at Elementary from one of our own.

Here are the links to both:

Yes it'll be fine. It runs smooth for me on an even older laptop with only 1GB of ram. But if you feel like it's laggy or isn't smooth enough go for Xubuntu (or Lubuntu, but imo Xubuntu looks better).

+1 for ElementaryOS. Convinced 2 of my friends to try it, one on an ancient Dell laptop, the other on a more recent one. Both fell in love instantly.
