2600x to 3600x or 3700

So I want to update my 2600x to the new 3600x or the 3700 in a couple weeks. What's everyone think.  Sticking to my AORUS b450 Pro WiFi for now

Good idea, if your current CPU isn't meeting your performance needs. What performance are you aiming to improve.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I really just want more speed, I love this 6 core but I think it could be a little bit faster like my old 7700k and more energy efficient. I 'm really excited to have a 7nm chip too.

20% more performance isn't worth 200$ IMO

50% for 300$ is better, and it prob OC's better

OP go for 3700X, imo best value at 330$

Do I really need 4 more threads?  Likely wait for more reviews. I want to move my current computer to another room and build a new computer. So I can game with friends who come over.

It's a lot more like 40% more performance, it's a big clock bump on top of an IPC increase. Seems worth it to me, on paper at least. We have yet to see those figures in action though.

Makes sense. If I were to update to more cores I think maybe the 3900x

oh yes, don't pull any punches. Still though, if reducing power consumption is a goal, since you mentioned more power efficiency, having a bunch of cores lying around doesn't do much towards that.

Lol that is really true too. I have a 6 core 12 threads and they sit around doing nothing lol

Honestly, just wait a bit until real reviews come in, to be as safe as possible in your purchase.

3600x is 4.4 and XFR will probably be turned up a notch on the new processors. Although again, that remains to be seen

Makes zero sense to upgrade in this scenario.  2600x is highly capable already.

Don't make a stupid purchase that isn't going to change your gaming / usage experience in any way that is noticable

@Fasauceome Month two with the 3600x. Nice chip, runs great but never ever hits 4.4GHz, ever. Set to all cores 4.350MHz 1.375 volts
