Where I'm from a legit copy of windows 8 oem costs 125$ only when you're buying it with a computer, if you want to buy only the key it costs 279$.

The sellers are real companies that sell this, someone told me that every company in the country that sells this are doing it too and the only thing they said about the reason for pricing differences is that microsoft doesn't allow it or something like that (doesn't allow it without buying a computer with it).

Basically I wanna know if this is true or are they lying to make more money.

Btw I'm from Bosnia & Herzegovina.

I bought Windows 8 for £40 using my student discount.

Here you can get a refund for the cost of a windows licence if you dont want to use it, and it comes included on a new prebuilt computer.

Don't you have Dreamspark Premium as a student? We sure do here, and that means free Windows 8.1 Pro for everyone. On another note the fact that an OEM copy is cheaper is by no means a scam, it has always been like this. It's a good deal for both the retailers and Microsoft, the retailers gets to offer a cheap OS with their computers and Microsoft is pretty much guaranteed a sale with every computer sold.

We all know OEM is cheaper and it's not a scam, but why won't they sell it for the same price? they sell it at 125$ price only when it's bought with a computer, why won't the sell it at the same price when buying only the key instead they raise the price at 275$

Well where I'm from things are a lot more expensive than North America or any other more technologically advanced country than mine (basically my country sucks balls) , probably because of the taxes or some shit like that.
