As I was drifting off to sleep, a thought hit me that i figured I'd ask here about.

I would like an e-ink web browser to use on my home network to connect to a recipe server, so I can use it in the kitchen.

E-ink for it's always on/low power....cuz it's annoying when your tablet goes to sleep when you're hand is covered with food and you're trying to read the instructions.

I'm thinking maybe an old kindle off ebay might be the place to start...I remember that was a big deal in putting new (android?) Os's on them so you could do stuff like browse or email.

The Kindle 3rd edition (Keyboard) has an "experimental browser"...maybe that might suit my purposes as is.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions I can pursue on this topic?

Could also just buy an Raspberry Pi or similar and an eInk-display off of eBay.

EDIT: Tho, I don't know how one would control it feasibly, then. They aren't touchscreens and e.g. a mouse wouldn't be particularly good, because of the low refresh-rate.

I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure that modern E-book readers do have an internal browser. It could probably browse recipe sites.

Seriously though a used E-book reader would probably be the best choice.

Yeah.. I can likely get a 3rd edition kindle off ebay for $15-20 if I play the system right...

Was hoping someone here was into the whole rooting scene on those things...had a friend who did that, but haven't spoken in a while.
