Hi

I have been running my i5 8600K with a stable overclock (delid with 5,0ghz @ 1,37V, AVX 2) for 3-4 months now.

When I did my overclock I tested it with Prime95 for 8h and RealBench for 4h without problems and peak temps during these tests was about 65 degrees.

During the last couple of days my PC has become a bit unstable.

The PC works perfectly for 10min - 3h but suddenly it freezes and needs a reboot.

I could not complete a cinebench test until I increased the CPU voltage to 1,39V.

Your thoughts ?

Have I damaged my CPU ?

I feel like 1,39V is a bit to much so I probably need to lower my CPU to 4,8ghz or something (cries in a corner....)

Are your temps fine? I had my 6700k (delidded, oc'ed) running at 1.4v for about a year with no issues.

My temps are fine

Idle: 30-35C

Gaming: 45-55C

Benchmarks: 60-70C

There's a chance it's a driver or Windows update issue which made it less stable. Best solution I see right now is to drop the oc a bit until it's stable.

I'd be kind of amazed if you experienced CPU degradation on such a new processor, especially at such low voltages as those.

If setting the CPU back to stock settings causes this issue to go away, then we can make the conclusion that the CPU is no longer reliable beyond its initial spec (or somewhere between stock and the overclock)
