hey guys

I have a laptop that is about 5 years old and I was thinking that the integrated graphics can`t be up to the task of some things, so I was thinking of getting a egpu although I do not have thunderbolt 3 I was wondering if some of the I/O on my machine could handle it my machine has:

  • power (der)
  • gigabit ethernet
  • vga
  • hdmi
  • usb 3.0
  • sd card reader
  • auxillary sound
  • usb 2.0
  • blu-ray writer

I would pair it with a 660 ti because that is the old one from my pc.

could you please recommend a egpu enclosure that would be able to use the ethernet on my laptop,

thanks Thomas.

Ethernet wont work afaik.

The wificard slot in the laptop is the only connector since its PCIe 1x. You can get adapters on ebay. And then hook up a PSU.

That is if your laptop has a 1x slot.

the cpu is a i7-6500u so it has 4 cores, and turbos up to 3.2ghz

That's a dual core. Probably not worth the potential investment to make it work, but depending on what the WiFi card is, an M.2 or mPCIe based dock like an EXP GDC could work.
