Perhaps a potential idea for techquickie/techlinked.

TL;DR: PCIe 5 slated for 2020 at consumer level. PCIe 6 announced to be finished with development by 2021, planned to be available for consumers 2022 - 2023.

" Ramping PCIe 6.0 bandwidth all the way to 256GB/s of bidirectional bandwidth would put an x16 connection on par with the VRAM bandwidth available in a low-end GPU like the RX 560 today. It’s significantly more bandwidth than what we’d expect even DDR5 to provide in 2022 in a dual-channel configuration. " - Anandtech
