Hello! It's been a while since I've last put a parts list together, and I'm a bit behind on all the new stuff that has come out. I'm looking for a build that will be used primarily for gaming, somewhere in the 700-800 USD price range. This is for a friend of mine that wants to get into pc gaming, so he does not have any of the components/peripherals needed. If you all could give me some pointers, that'd be great.

My Build: i7-4790K, 212 Evo, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3-1600, Intel 730 240GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB, EVGA GTX 980Ti ACX 2.0, NZXT H440 Blue/Black, EVGA 650W 80+Gold.

Most of the time, it's not the computer, it's the person using it.

So you want the keyboard and mouse and screen to be within this price range?

In your price range. The hard drive can be swapped out for an SSD and the ram can be dropped to 8gb(tho a 2x4gb would be better than a 1x8gb).

A drop over the budget, but this one will perform the best:

If you need to cut that $13 let me know, and I can make some further tweaks.

I'm always a big advocate for local cash sales on monitors when you're looking at a budget build. Most office desktops come with 1080p 60hz these days, and offices are always looking to get rid of older gear. A decent 1080p 60hz monitor can often be had for around $30.

My question is: You've got a 4790k and 980Ti... What's your budget with his $700 on top of it? Sell him what you've got (A solid $700 build for him, and a great base for you to add onto for an upgrade!)

If you were to compare the 4790K to any CPU listed above, it's at least a head above. The 980Ti is comparable to about a 1660 or 1660Ti approximately. So he's getting an equivalent build or better than those listed above, and say you've got... $600 you could come into soon. You could be sitting on something like:
