Choosing optional modules at university?

Hey, I just had a quick question about choosing optional modules for my degree in Mechanical Engineering.

I know that the decision is mine in the end but I just wanted a bit of general advice from people who may have been in the same position as me before.

So basically I have just finished second year and I am about to choose the optional modules that I will take next year. From the long list I have crossed out a couple that really don't interest me. However, I feel like from the remaining ones, none of them are really that good so I find myself just choosing the ones that just seem to be slightly easier or at least less time consuming. I feel like a cop out doing this though because some people will just choose the hardest subjects but I am also taking into account the very large amount of project work that there will be. So I guess my question for anyone who has been in this position before, is it better to choose subjects that you know you can do better in or is it better to choose the harder (more "impressive") subjects, knowing that grades might go down a little?

Thanks

No employer cares about the courses you took once you finish.

Fair enough haha but then the question is the same.. if they don't care about which course, then do they care more about better grades??

Yes, they care about grades and your degree titel as well as the name of the university. At least his how it works in my country

I don't know about mechanical engineering but for computer science, a portfolio of projects and one or two internship under your belt go way further than your GPA in terms of career opportunities.

I do not even put GPA in my resume and my interviewers do not ask. They are much more interested in my GitHub projects than my college GPA. But do make sure it is not less than 3.0 tho. It will raise some questions.

Study what makes you tick, even if it's more difficult. In Aerospace engineering we get to choose between air or space, and even though Air is much easier, has more jobs and gets you more money, your boy is studying the space shit.
