Can an NVMe causes stutter in a game?

Bush Badger

TLDR;

triple monitor setup 240hz, 60hz and 60hz

notices stutter in game, same FPS no drop but input lag every 3 second / screen tear

screen tear / input lag becomes worst if youtube is playing on the 2nd screen

Things I have tried

DDU / install different Nvidia firmware

Disable OC running on stock

set manual ram timmings

Multiple windows reinstall

tried different cables / adaptor

running only one screen

extensive tweaking in nvidia control pannel

use game optimization software provided by MSI / Gigabyte

I am at my wits end here, the last thing I can think of is a bad ssd? I am currently using the Crucial P1 1TB NVMe. Will changing it back to a Samsung Evo 860 help? Also could it be my Windows OS, I read after the 2018 fall creator update its riddled with problems. Please help

PC Specs

9900k 5Ghz

32GB Trident RGB 3200Mhz

2080TI MSI Lightning Z

Aorus Gaming Master

RM850X

Hey,

Could we get some more insight into the monitoring, as in thermals and CPU and GPU usages?

Run a benchmark on Valley Heaven or 3DMark and show us the score you're getting.

Also what games do you play that you see stutters in, what resolution, what settings, etc.

Almost all games, at 1080p on low setting. I dont have any of the benchmarking tools you suggested but I do have the heaven benchmark with these presets and this is the score

I dont see anything wrong..

Minimum frames are 41 and th highest frame you got was 379.

Please go ahead and install MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner alongside it. (It's in the same installer)

Then use the monitoring OSD to see CPU and GPU usage, and also Pagefile and RAM usage aswell.

It's all in the settings, if you dont know how to use the monitoring aspect of Rivatuner&MSI Afterburner, I'll be more than happy to guide you.

Or go to youtube and see how you can tweak it.

But all in all, I hardly see anything wrong with your setup.

The stutters might come from your RAM maybe, when it can't keep up with the CPU. Not sure.. we got to test this further.
