Thunderbolt 3 add-on card on AMD desktop

AvatarComputer

Hi all, what will happen if I add a Thunderbolt 3 add-on card on an AMD desktop? I know AMD is not compatible with Thunderbolt 3, but i am wondering if I could use this card as a USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-3 add-on card on an AMD desktop?

AFAIK Thunderbolt requires you to have a special header on your motherboard. It's possible the system won't recognize the device.

Unless you already have it from an Intel system that's a really expensive USB add-in card. Decent ones can be had for around 30$

I have already have a Thunderbold 3 PCIe adpater card, and I plan to build a new AMD system. Just wondering if this card will work on the new system.
