Personally, I think it looks pretty damn great for now. Microsoft will probably fiddle with the fee over the coming months, maybe raising it to 10€/month, but they've got some games there that I've been rather eagerly waiting to get to play, the price certainly ain't bad and it's just good to have some competition, not to mention that many/most/all? games on the pass will also be available for purchase on other storefronts -- basically, I'm very much pleased at the moment with the direction they're going.

It's pointless when you can just hit up the internet for multiple deals on games and you can also use Microsoft Rewards points to buy games. I'm up over 150,000 points and basically 1,000 points translates to $1.00. So that's $150 to put towards any game I wish plus if you were to use a large amount of points at once, it translates to more than $150 to put towards games. For instance, last night State of Decay 2 was on sale for a very short period of time at $15.00. So I cashed in 9,000 points for $10.00 and just paid the extra $5.00 for the game. And the best part, which I finally realized, Xbox Anywhere games you can install on both your PC and/or your Xbox One. I of course installed it on PC for the much higher frame rate. And another great thing, the game is cross platform. Meaning I can play with people on console from my PC and vice versa.

Again, Game Pass is pointless except for when it's $1.00. That's actually a great deal but you are just renting the games. You can't really go wrong renting games for $1.00 though. Especially when you get the games for 3 months instead of 3 days. When the price shoots back up, that is when it's pointless. Unless you've got a Daddy Warbucks.

Who can argue with such figures..... i do believe this comes accompanied with the most modern games being available on a later date.. ofcourse how would the payment modell work... Take for example a game such as Total War 3 Kingdoms which made a million sales during their first launchweek at approx 60 euro's per game = 60 millions euro's with maybe a development track in the 80 or 90 million dollar range .... Companies would be out of their mind if they would release such games with budgets that big unless they provide for other lanes of revenue...

I'll give it a go.  I already have xbox live and game pass.  I might as well bundle it up and get the PC game pass as well.  I was only charged a dollar this month to upgrade to game pass ultimate.

I'm near the end of Wolfenstein 1, now I have motivation to beat it and jump onto Wolftenstein 2 since it's available to download through game pass now.

I thought about it from that perspective when xbox game pass arrived on xbox (though did see a few positives)

For instance if someone is going to buy 2 microsoft exclusives a year they could get gamepass instead for a year and it be cheaper (at least in australia where you would save like $70 for that year. dont get me wrong i have payed for many games in my time and any game that i realy like i buy {state of decay 2 for instance} but there mis games on there that i never would have thought of playing that turned out to be quite fun - humans fall flat, just cause 4, rocketleague, superhot and DMC just to name a few)

if it goes up it will probably go inline with the xbox gamepass cost

It's been available on PC for some time now (Xbox Play Anywhere Games).

Hell I used the 14 day trial (on March 9th) to play and complete Crackdown 3 and play a few other games.

I think it's great.

play anywhere and gamepass are a bit different

yeah some of the games were avaliable on the pc if you payed for gamepass but game pass for pc seems to offer some games that are pc only

though marcin Iwiński (CD Project founder) made the statement that they release their games (Like Witcher 3) without any copy protection

In an interview he said

"But the piracy factor was irrelevant, because we cannot force people to buy things. We can only convince them to do it. We totally believe in the carrot, not in the stick... I've seen many times, comments [that say] 'Hey, I couldn't afford the game when it was full price, but these guys are so fair, and they were never against us. They were always trying to do good, add a lot of value, give free DLC, give free content, that I bought the game from them when it was mid-price.'"

and this game still sold incredably well and has developed a fan base, so moving a game to gamepass isnt alwasys a bad thing

witcher-3-sales-monster_3715214406169704113876

Phil spencer stated in an interview

"When you put a game like Forza Horizon 4 on Game Pass, you instantly have more players of the game, which is actually leading to more sales of the game," he said. "Some people have questioned that, but when State of Decay 2 launched, you saw if you looked in the US at the NPD you saw this game selling really well the month it launched on GamePass.

"You say, 'Well isn't everyone just going to subscribe for $10 and go play this thing?' But no, gamers find things to play based on what everybody else is playing. What's #1 on Mixer, what's #1 on Twitch, what's my friend's are playing, what are people saying on Discord, they go everywhere to see. When these games hit something like GamePass with all these players, it instantly raises the awareness."

@WickedStarfish
I just mean the dollar deal game pass idea ..... Ofcourse what they are saying rings true, on the other hand i have heard developers too whose online playercount consists out of 90% users that play through the hacked version of their games.

10 dollar is a completely other figure then 1 ;)

Even then i'm already more alligned with a developer who uses his own platform to reach his crowd then this generic idea which can be great if you are still young or love ot play heaps and heaps of games...

But don't come whining with me if in 20 years from now the quality of games produced is so low that its only enjoyable for the gross of the player count

i always thought pirating games didn't allow multiplayer access as it did server side checks

and i wasnt going to whine as there will still be developers that are amazing

only for the big shots ... The big companies can almost be assured for a steady stream of revenue but the smaller indie companies... those are the ones most at risk of hackers

You can't know for certain if you are whining or not 20 years from now!

It's a modern day rental service. And when it's free or $1.00, it's as great as you describe for games that can be completed in those time frames.

Why would someone buy or even worry about 2 Microsoft exclusives a year? And lets say someone does worry about one or five of them or however many. What makes it so difficult to grab the game from the internet for around $5.00-$18.00? And they become yours to keep forever as well. Hell, if you complete the game in 1-3 months, you can just sell it right back to where you got it from for probably more than what you paid for it and use that money to buy another game, exclusive or not.

it is just from my perspective (i only really payed for games digitally on my consoles {until more recently} so it was full price or no game as it was cheaper than buying 2 copies of the game {play the games with my sibling on a second xbox})

I was just saying if someone was to buy at least 2 exclusives made from a microsoft studio every year (on their console digitally or even physically as when a new games release {for me} it is still 70 or 80$ in a physical store) wouldnt it be better for them to instead use that same money and still get day one access to those games plus the ability to play other games that are included in gamepass? as a year of gamepass is $132 and if you are playing for gold on a month to month basis it is another $132 ontop {if you play on console} (yearly is like $80 {again where i live}) you can save more and get both for $192 plus get access to gamepass for pc included in that (again month to month and without sale prices)

keep in mind eb is currently having a half price sale, and jbhifi and big w are probably the cheapest stores to buy physical games from in my area

Retail is for suckers.

You'd have to be a moron to pay $132 for a game pass. Even if that lets you play every single game available on the console.

You'd have to be a moron to pay $132 for Xbox Live Gold when it's completely FREE through Microsoft Rewards(approximately 90 seconds of daily Bing searches).

Apparently The Valley Of The Shadow Of Death is not the ideal place to be for a gamer.

eb is ALWAYS half price, or less. Except at launch maybe. Just wait a week, it'll hit half price by then. You see eb is basically where people resell the games they've completed and/or could not afford in the first place. And for some reason, they would rather have half the price back quick than no price back at all. Even when they could obviously get ALL that money back from the morons that pay full price for the game anyway.
