Realme phones a good pick? ?

I am currently on a travel to Asia and I were gonna buy a "Cherry Mobile Flare S7 Plus" which has a Helio P60, 3050mAh & wireless charging other bonuses it has a clean back with no brand logo and is not from a Chinese brand, tough these days that have changed a bunch tough. Now since many told me last time that I should grab a "Xiaomi Note 7 / 7 Pro" both having a SD660, I compared other brands and the best one seems to be from Realme which have the "Realme 3" with Helio P60 for cheaper than the Cherry Mobile and the nearly same price of the Cherry "Realme 3 Pro" has a SD710, both of these also has 4000mAh plus batteries and a headphone jack which Cherry lacks. My research shows that Realme is owned by BBK which also own Oppo, Vivo & Oneplus so a 710 to about 200eur sounds to good to be true! Is there a catch?

PLATFORM	OS	Android 9.0 (Pie); ColorOS 6

the main problem is color OS. it is very non user friendly , any action needs to link to their (oppo) account? which make the phone pretty unusable.

goodluck finding custom roms to bypass it

It's a global ROM they said, does the problem still exist? Also 720p is the only res this chip plays Fortnite at anyway...  edit: that cost 350euro also if buying a thing that expensive il buy it in Europe for 2 year warranty tough then I most cash out 25% more...

Realme lets users unlock the bootloaders of the devices, So ColorOS should not be a problem when development start. Other than that, Indian reviewers regard the phone pretty well.

OK so kinda like the cool little brother of Oppo then? Also my study of Color OS so far makes it look like iOS, no biggie my only concern is if the Oppo account is required and if its possible to swap launcher if its to unbearable...

FYI, not the launcher, its perfectly fine to use.

but many unwanted default strange stuff make you hate it and out of control.

eg usb debug auto turn off after a few minutes and much more complains.

may not be big deal for now,

Don't buy that phone until you are very much familiar with flashing roms. The so called Color OS is the worst skin you can have. The specs might look good but they aren't. Also, the camera is below mediocre. Not great. It's way more bloated than MIUI.

I got to test the device in the Realme booth and even got to test the camera and there was no Oppo account request, I then proceeded and bought the device and during setup in the store. So far no severe issues, tough at about 200$ this device is not gonna be the worst purchase ever. Worst case scenario it will be a home mini-tablet and dedicated for gaming!

I got to use an older Realme device today so I decided I should reply to you. The Device is not directly from Oppo, It's more like a sub brand. Also, the only problem with these devices are life  The update cycle is not great with these devices. I'm totally not against your purchase, infact it's actually a good buy. It's just that there is not much about these devices on XDA. It can be a big problem if you are planning on modding the device in future. Compared to Xiaomi devices. Anyway, Congrats !  Also, not a fan-boy of any brand. Totally open to suggestions. I was just giving my opinion and I wish you the very best with the devices. And I was wrong about the camera, it's pretty good in the manual settings. I would recommend flashing google camera.
