What SSD to choose

So I need a good 500GB SSD for my dad's PC Build. He has never experienced the speed of an SSD and doesn't need a lot of storage for his PC. I'm looking at the MX500 500GB from Crucial for $67. What really interests me is its good read/write speeds but more importantly its 512mb of cache. How much does the amount of cache contribute to the speed or responsiveness of an SSD and why is it necessarily good or important? Any other options I should choose from? Also, do most SSDs have cache or nah?

Grab a 256GB for even cheaper.  He won't notice a difference with cache or cacheless, and I doubt he's filled up 100GB of space if he's a normal PC user doing web stuff and youtube and Office stuffs.

 

The MX500 is a good drive, used a couple myself.  Any of them are great upgrades, Adata too.

we've hit the top speed of SATA so the mx500 is one of many ssd's that can do around 500 megabytes of reads and writes.
