Patch panel/Switch placement

Go to solution Solved by scottyseng,

I would leave the switch where it is, and mount the patch panel under the bottom shelf.

If you had a keystone type panel, I'd tell you to use a coax keystone as well, but you have a punchdown.

Have fun making the short cables...it's killing me to finish up my rack still. lol

Yeah that's what I was thinking and make some 6 inch patch cables.

I would just buy a dozen or so 1ft or 6in patch cables for a cleaner look imo

I agree with @Lurick for the love of god get some shorter cables.

Id mount that patch panel on the under side of the shelf. If you wont mind doing some drilling in to the shelf maybe thing about a little hole towards the left back corner. This way you can pass the power cable for the switch and coax thru. Just to clean up the look. Id also look at mounting that power strip on the under side of the shelf as well. OR you may consider a UPS. This way if the power goes out, your network is still working for a while, and possibly your internet as well. I can stay online for maybe 30 mins during a power outage with my UPS.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
