so the oculus rift s came out today and i was thinking of buying it to get into vr

the only problem is that from what i've seen most vr games arent that popular, with some of the highest rated ones like pavlov having 500 peak players on the steam charts

it is really worth it instead of spending money on upgrades?

Ive never been a VR person myself.  Plus not all games support it, but a good ammount of games support it.  Some people are into some could care less like me.  It is a neat technology tho.

It's really fun if you have friends that also have VR, but playing solo can be pretty boring. Me and some friends can play pavlov for hours and hours and not get bored. I would suggest getting something on sale though, I bought an Occulus Rift a couple months ago on sale for $280 for the full kit. I can't see myself paying over $350 for one though maybe in the future but VR right now is pretty niche. If you can get one on sale I'd go for it I mean depending on where you get it you could always return it if you don't like it.

No i don't think it's worth it. The games are limited, there's no AAA titles came out for that platform.

Don't need AAA titles. However, the amount of games is limited. So it depends highly on what you like to play. IMO it's not worth the investment in $$$/£££ unless money is no worry.

"Job Simulator" and "Beatsabre" are amazing IMO, but £1200+ for the kit to play 2 games is hard to swallow. Other games, Elite Dangerous Etc, can be played without the VR, so the VR is an incremental improvement in some instances.

Yet still, IMO needs to remove the screen door effect. I've not seen if the VivePro or Valve Index fixes these with the 1440p screens (Valve more so as LCD too?).

I bought an Oculus Rift in December of 2016. By February 2017, I put it away in its pretty much brand new condition. It's been neatly tucked in its original box ever since. At first, VR is AMAZING. But it loses that amazingness in no time. Especially when you see the price of VR games and what being in VR does to you in general. The more time you spend in VR, the less healthy you feel. At least that's how it was for me. To me, VR is basically a modern day parlor trick. Amazing for a little while, completely forgettable in no time.

I bought the Oculus Rift S, and it's shipping to my house currently (it'll be here tomorrow). If you would like, I can give an update on how it is. I bought it because I'm bored of everything else. I wanted a new experience, I've never tried VR, and it's something my boyfriend and I can enjoy together. It's truly all up to your personal opinion though. I think it'll be worth it in my eyes (pun fully intended). But, if you're undecided, I would look at different reviews at types of VR headsets are out there, and I would watch plenty of gameplay of games offered on the platform. If you wanna get it, get it.

Bought an i5, got an i7. Thanks Amazon.

No worries, dude, I'll send a message your way with my thoughts. But, yeah, it's really if it's worth it to you. Other people will have differing opinions like everything else, but it may not be something they like necessarily. If you can get your money's worth and have fun with it, why not just get it, ya know? ?
