Is 750W for this setup enough?

Hey tech experts, i hope someone can help me.

I watched the youtube video about choosng the Right PC power Supply of Techquickie where he recommend the site of coolermaster, but lucky me, the site is under construction. I tried another site and came up with a suggestion of more then 1000W but i think thats not possible, even with the 2080 Ti.

I'm from Germany and the set up is: https://geizhals.de/?cat=WL-1196601

I choosed the be quiet! Straight Power 11 750W ATX 2.4 (BN283)

Is 750W enough or should i buy a 850 one? Or do i really need 1000W?

There's no way it would come close to 750W, it does depend on usage of course, but unless you're gonna add more GPUs or do extreme OCing on both CPU + GPU, then it shouldn't come close to that 750W.

Thank you really much for your fast answer,

would it matter if i would use the pc for working with 3d software and 3d rendering?

No, the only way the CPU or GPU pull more power than stock config is when they are OC'd, and  even then unless you are using something like LN2 and very high OC, then it's not gonna exceed 750W.

To give you an example, my 1700 is OC'd to 3900Mhz on all cores... whilst idle or low usage is still only uses approx 45W average... and when high usage hits around 120W.

@paddy-stone Thank you. But even if 750W is too much, would you recommend me to lower the supply to 650W? Or is the choose Ok, since it has the gold certification and i could use another GPU in the future? Adding another GPU would be a high advantage because more cuda cores would lower the render time.

Just a minute, just checking something.

Ok, have done a quick pcpp list for you

The stock wattage at max power pulls approx 474W, and adding another 2080ti adds approx another 250W, so if you're not OCing the CPU or GPU you could get away with the 750W... but if OCing you'll need more wattage if you definitely plan on adding another 2080ti and Ocing.

@paddy-stone Thank you really much for taking your time. You choosed the normal 2080 in your list, was that a mistake? I will probably not add another GPU in the next 2 years, so i think i should just use the 750W one, i already ordered it and worried that i may need a bigger one right now. Sending it back to get the 650W wouldn't make sense atm.

I edited post already, you probably saw it before the edit.

Yes, if not gonna add another GPU within 2 years, I would stick with the 750W personally.... also in the future you may find that a single card is released that trumps 2x 2080ti, it's unlikely but could happen. Anyway, I would still look at what's available at the time, as performance could increase and power usage could lower compared to now, so you might be able to still use that 750W PSU.

Also you can see what your actual peak power usage will be with the CPU and GPU OC'd, and do some calculations based off those figures to see if 750W would be enough for adding another card.

You're welcome :)

Yes, very agressive:

https://www.tweakpc.de/hardware/tests/netzteile/seasonic_focus_gold/s09.php

1200rpm at 650W

Lets look at the 750W be quiet Straight Power 11:

https://www.tweakpc.de/hardware/tests/netzteile/be_quiet_straight_power_11/s09.php

824 at 750W load...

And the fan be quiet uses is better/quieter with way less motor noise than Seasonic...

I actually waited for a really really long time, and someone said with the Computex the price for the cpu might drop, i didnt want to wait any longer just because of something that might happen. I just hope the prices don't fall that much otherwise i would be sad lol

because they didn't test the 750W Focus...

And its the same unit with 100W less.

So I'd expect the 750W Focus to have higher fan RPM.

We can also use this, wich is tested at a different temperature:

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/seasonic-ssr-750fx-focus-plus-750-gold-psu,5206-4.html

But comes out at 2320rpm at 100% load...

If you like it more.

Well, you waited so long, can't you wait just 2 weeks and 2 days??

If nothing happened, you didn't lose anything.

But it did, you lost a ton of money or maybe even bet on the wrong horse.

In a worst case scenario, the price of the CPU might drop 25% or so and the GPU could get 200€ cheaper.

Not saying that its likely or that it will happen.

Only that that would be a worst case scenario for you, if you bought right now.

No, the be quiet is quieter, the focus is louder.

There is really no reason for the Focus. It has little advantages over the Straight Power 11.

Do you have any proof of that claim?
There isn't necessarily a correlation between warranty and reliability. That's only what YOU assume. There is also the possibility to have calculated that most people don't send it in after X-Years or lose their Receit. Or price it in the PSU and calculate with a high failure rate and let the users pay for it. Both is possible.

You already forgot that Seasonic put out a press release about Incompatibility with Focus and some Graphics Cards? One of those was an ASUS GTX970 Strix.

And what do you say about my Seasonic P660 rebooting with the VEGA64 and the i7-3930K or switching off with the Ryzen and the VEGA??
When an old be quiet Dark Power P8 (750W) works fine with that system.
And it even works with some 550W (for example Cooler Master Master Watt) or the 650W Silverstone Strider F, 550W Super Flower.

well... problems with seasonic:

s12ii/m12ii: too old

s12iii: double mag over dc-dc (which is in between dc-dc and group)

focus gold/plat/plus: high current issues

prime: loud fan motor

so yeah... seasonic isn't the best imo
