How come old systems work without dedicated or integrated GPU?

By asking this question I am assuming that new systems don't work or show any output from the googling I did.
I was just looking for PC parts and the parts I picked are

CPU:               AMD Ryzen 5 2600

Motherboard:  ASRock B450M Steel Legend

and was wondering if I can use it without dedicated GPU because I don't have money for good GPU but I don't want to buy an APU just to change it later.

Old systems I had with Pentium 4 and Athlon something of that era worked fine and assumed that all systems work even without GPU. Now I don't understand why modern systems do not work. Is it because the video ports linked or interfaced with iGPU instead of processor or something. If so then are there motherboards with display ports for both CPU and iGPU?

Intel often has an igpu, amd often doesnt

If you're formally an engineer, avoid responsibility. That's what senior engineers get paid for.

The ryzen 2600 doesn't have an igpu, you can't use that machine without a graphics card. You could get r5 2400G if you want a ryzen pc without a graphics card.

The modern system won't work, because they don't have a gpu built into the motherboard, or as is the case with ryzen series of processors, they lack any sort of an onboard gpu.

Most intel processors include a weak igpu, for use without a graphics card.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

The iGPU was on the motherboard, not the CPU.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, dammit was expecting something different.

APU(2200G) it is for now

since the new 3000 series APU is still based on zen+, there is no point in waiting also.

The cost of a Ryzen 5 1600 and an RX 570 is only about $55 moe than the 2600.
