Is it worth 1x RTX 2080ti or 2x RTX 2080ti?

Before buying I would like to know if the cost is worth buying 2x RTX 2080ti's or if it is worth getting only 1x RTX 2080ti. I am unsure what as to get, as the cost of the GPU's are quite high and would like to make a good decision before buying. I'm most concerned with the cost / performance output.

• CPU: Intel Core i5 9600K Six Core LGA 1151 3.7 GHz CPU Processor

• GPU: GeForce® GTX 1060 6GT OC DDR5 6GB

• RAM: G.Skill 32G(4x8G)F4-2400C16Q-32GFXR DDR4 2400 MHZ 1.2V

• SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Series 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD

• HD: Western Digital WD20EZRZ Blue 2TB SATA 6Gb HDD 64M

• COOLING: Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H60v2 with illuminated LED CPU Cooler

• PSU: EVGA - 650 W 80+ Gold certified semi-modular ATX power supply

• CASE: NZXT H500 Mid-Tower Case Matte Black + Blue

 

IF anything else needs to be upgraded to work with the GPU's then I would also like to know that also.

I am unsure if everything supports sli, but if it doesn't but the increase in performance with having 2x RTX 2080 ti's is good then I will get the necessary components to support that.

I would recommend watching some youtube reviews using dual 2080ti in SLI vs a standard 1

Sli in general is a bad idea from a cost to performance perspective. Then again the rtx 2080ti isn't great in that aspect to begin with. Dont get me wrong it's a wonderful card and I like mine but if you are concerned about cost vs performance then it's not the greatest pick. What are you aiming for anyways in terms of performance. The only real reason to get one is if you absolutely need one to reach your desired performance regardless of cost.

SLi is basically pointless at the moment. A single 2080ti is good enough for most games at 1440p 144hz.

Ditto on that.  SLI is dead and nVidia knows it.  It is a waiste of money to spend 3000 thousand dollars and not get full game support plus even with SLI support your gains can be only about 15 to 25 avg percent.  Which is not must much.  No need to shell out all this money when the 3080 will come out before you can say "bara bing bara boom" and you will feel like shit when it destroyed the 2080 series and even 2080TI in SLI.  Be smart always good to buy single card unless you plan on sticking with your setup for many years then fine spend 3000 dollars.  But as I said in 2021 3080 will come so save your SLI then just upgrade to 3080 when it comes out.

I’m not sure if that CPU is going to keep up with the 2 GPUs. So you would get bottlenecked, which would reduce your performance by a lot. If you plan to buy one RTX 2080 Ti, the bottleneck is going to be smaller, however, if you have money to spend, you should buy a better CPU like the i9-9900k or i7-9700k.
