Hi

I just got these ATH-M20x, since I wanted to get an upgrade. My original headphones were Skullcandy Lowriders (Got it from Marshalls). I was expecting to get really good audio quality, but these new headphones are quieter, less bass is felt, and when I try it out in game it feels like a tin can. All in all, besides aesthetics maybe, the random Skullcandys I got from the store are better. Did I forget to do something? Download a driver change a setting etc etc.

Thanks

the ATH-M20X are harder to drive so you might benefit from a headphone amp, but anyway don't expect earth shattering bass, these are Studio Monitor headphones meaning the frequency response is flat, don't know why they would sound like a tin can though, maybe you're not used to it?

I don't know any audio terms, but if I could describe it rather than "tinny" i'd have to say flat, but not sure if you mean the same thing. But still, these headphones feel like my old headphones if someone turned down every aspect of them

Yeah mainstream headphones (or whatever they're called) are Equalized, if you've ever heard of an Equalizer
ECublmjLoN5FSwM2jMpmhhNSJiUnymNAx5Im8lXS

These Studio Monitors are for making music (or anything else resembling recording audio), so having a headphone that is flat or not Equalized is very important, it also brings up lots of midrange qualities in a song that you usually never hear because those frequencies in mainstream headphones are most likely tuned out

In short you don't get extra bass, extra treble or extra anything, you just get a flat response that is very close to the true source of how the audio file should sound like

Ohh thanks

Really dumb question, but this "equalizer" right there, is that something I can download to make a certain aspect "louder"?

If you're using Realtek onboard audio then their software already has an equalizer built in
