I think I have made a post similar to this in the past but can't find it. None of the answers has worked anyway. Whenever I plug my 3.0 Flash Drive into the front 3.0 ports on my computer, my computer freezes. This only happens if I plug it in after the computer has been started, not before. I don't have another 3.0 Flash Drive to test this but I have had a 3.0 External Hard Drive before (that broke) and it never used to freeze my computer. Things I have tried is Re-installing the USB drivers and updating BIOS. Is it possible that it is just this Flash Drive? I have tried plugging it into the 3.0 ports on my laptop and it works fine.

What chipset you running?

I have the AMD FX-8350 on AM3+ on a M5A99FX PRO R2.0 mobo. The hard part is that it doesn't freeze every time I plug it in. Just every so often, often enough to bother me.

Ah okay, I had a similar problem back when I was on X58 that was basically cos it didn't have native USB 3.0 support and the Marvell drivers were... Unreliable. I'm not familiar with the AMD chipsets, but it could be a chipset issue (since chipset may be what controls the USB 3.0 ports) or a driver issue if your chipset doesn't natively support USB 3.0. Is it only the front ports?

I can't say if it's the front ports only, because it doesn't freeze every time. I don't want to have to restart my computer 50 times just to wait for that one time it does it. I will try putting it in different slots throughout the week. I am pretty positive it supports 3.0 natively, the CPU is like a year old, same as the mobo.

He already updated the Bios.

Do you have the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard? Also what version of windows are you using (including bitage 32 or 64)?

Not sure if they are latest, however the most recent driver update was from late 2012 so I'm pretty sure it is. I will install it anyway. Also, I am running 64 bit.

I hope that's a typo because the latest driver is late 2013.

It's not BAYZq1a.png
