Can the 940MX use ray tracing in animation production ?

As far as I know, there is no ray tracing support on Maxwell.

Probably not as they stop support for older cards as new ones launch.

what programs are you using?

 

You can do raytracing with renderers like blender cycles and vray on a cpu or 940m just fine.

not really. unless you want to drop 5 to 10k for pro  grad business

but pc cpu been doing ray tracing a long time

then that will all work fine on the 940mx and raytracing will work fine.

 

Blender might not like big files cause vram, and it won't be that fast, but it will work.
