I can't search for anything on my PC files

i type into the search bar on my PC and i get nothing EG (me searching for notepad) this only started happening about 2 days ago, before then it was working fine.

Seems like you turned the search bar off by accident or some driver did that for you.

This may help you, just activate instead of disable (not sure if it works for Windows 10 too but it shouldn't be much different):

I managed to find the file and it says it's running, but I still can't search.

That's weird. Did you install the latest Windows 10 update yet? Maybe this will disappear with it?

Try to go into the Cortana settings and see if it is turned off there. I searched the Microsoft forum and all I found is that Cortana search should be turned on (privacy settings of course how you want it).

I checked for updates, it said it was up to date until I clicked check, then it did a pretty long update it lets me search, looks a lot different now but it works!
