All right then, thanks for the information.

Good evening,

This is the 1st time trying to build a PC myself. I've thus far selected a case and MOBO and am a bit stuck on selecting a complimenting CPU. I mostly intend to play FFXI (which could run on a potato) and FF14  and considering getting into Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen & BF5. I may have other uses for the PC such as college work (if I go back in the effort to make games myself). But primarily looking for a good mid range CPU that either doesnt require me to overclock for great performance or can do so itself (if this is a thing.) I am willing to spend around $1500 and no higher than $2000 (though would like to keep it closer to 1500. Clock speed needs to be 3.33 Ghz or higher and between 4 to 8 cores. I intend to use SSDs and air cooling though am open to a mix of SSD & HDD. Not interested in M.2. As for the 2 parts I mentioned I selected, they are as follows:

Fractal Design - Meshify C TG ATX Mid Tower Case

ASRock - A320M-HDV Micro ATX AM4 MOBO

Any help would be greatly appreciated even if you see a need to scale the case up (due to Clearance) or should the MOBO I selected or parameters for the CPU be insufficient.

Again thank you for any help you can provide.

My apologies left 1 part out that might be needed to know. I am most likely going to have Discord and a web browser running in the background (for MMOs) I've no intention of any professional streaming though maybe if I have something cool to show off i might do so for that purpose. Was also planning on running Windows 7.64

don't get an A320.

It's not mid range it is def. low end.

Wait 2 months for Zen 2.

If you can't, get an ASRock B450 Pro 4 and a Ryzen 5 2600x. You won't have to OC and it will run fine as is.

I dunno why you have a $1500 budget but choose to get one of the shittiest AM4 boards, that might not even get bios updates for zen 2 CPUs. Get a B450-A pro or Pro4/K4 instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Appreciate the heads up on the MOBO, again still learning all this. Seems some1 else agrees with your recommendation as well (outside the Zen 2) but I will have a look at both and your selection on the CPU. Thank you.

I do believe I mentioned it was my 1st build, sorry if this irks you. There was a reason I asked here. Also did mention I'm willing to pay double for the GPU based on whatever CPU gets picked.

Thank you however on the recommendation.

B450 boards will probably get Zen 2 support, and also that particular board should actually support a decent chip. As well it will support current chips better.

If you can't wait for the next generation, I highly recommend the 2600x at its current price, especially since you aren't overclocking. Assuming USD, the 2600x is $173 right now (only about $10 more than the 2600) and it comes with better cooler, and also better base and boost clock speeds.

The 2700 non X is a better deal IMO at $219; however, without manual OC it will perform worse than the 2600x in games, as its stock frequency drops off a cliff when more than 4 cores are active (i.e. all the time) to meet the stock TDP of 65w. Manual OC overcomes this, and basically its the same thing as the 2700x. Same goes for 2600 and 2600x.

However the 2600x right now is the better deal because its only $10 more and comes with a better cooler.

Much obliged. I can probably wait. (I hope anyways, I'm eager to jump back into  oth my MMOs,) if only because I have to move soon for my job. I have not been given an exact date, but it is certainly possible that may occur June or July ( no need to risk damaging anything in transit ).

It's nothing against OC I'm simply not ready to make any kind of attempt that runs the parts and voids any warranties.

Convenient features such as dust filters or anything like a surge protector (and anything that reduces the amount of maintenance are a big help in my case. I did have a pre-built PC that lasted 3 years, but apparently my surge protector wasn't up to the task as 1 night a storm basically melted the CPU, GPU, MOBO & NIC. (Doeant help I had Geek Squad look at it and didnt pay the extra $ for the warranty and they managed to reset it to factory defaults, less on was learned there.)

Casing is pretty disgusting, so I kinda felt like starting from scratch (the PC itself was a low entry level, like $700.)

Figured I might appreciate taking better care this time if I actually build it.

Again cant thank you enough.

If it is all right with you, might I hold onto this list and have time to think on it? I am willing to wait on the Zen 2 (at the very least to compare). I have to move soon (no date given yet, could be a month or 2, might be later in the year, just doesnt make sense to build right this moment or carry the parts in move and wind up losing 1 of them, so there is time to examine before purchase.

Thank you for your assistance.
