Good replacement?

My buddy has an old comp he plays LoL+runescape+ low end games on, and his Nvidia geforce 505 is dying,  was wondering what a good upgrade would be, it has an i3 2120 CPU, 4gb of ram.

 

I'm thinking something like a gt620? they're like 35$ and I think it'd do plenty for what he does, just wanted to get other opinions first.

While those are not very demanding games, I'd not recommend anything lower than a GTX 650. A GTX 660 to name something worth it's money. On the AMD side a R7 260X or a HD 7770.

 

Edit: those low end non-gaming cards like GT 610-GT640 are wasted money. They don't have any potential and cost almost up to the same as a GTX 650.

dont ever get a media grade gpu, rather run on onboard

maybe check some used or refurbished products too, since the GTx10-GTx40 arent really meant to be gaming cards, but more like HTPC and stream cards

Any AMD APU sounds perfect for his usages, but any low end GAMING gpu will suffice.

HD 7770 is a good choice.

You should go for an older more powerful card like a used 460 or something. (Maybe a 2xx?)

 

By the way, never get a GT 610 because it is literally for computers with no onboard graphics.

His budget is like 350$ usd but he lives in portugal, not sure what website to use, and frankly spending over 100$ on a card for such a low-end system seems a waste, I'll look into 650 ti's /7770's if i can figure out what site he can order from

Used 6850 for $50. Still a good performer and runs fairly cool without drawing too much power.
