Thanks, Wh0_Am_1,

I acknowledge your reply, I have seen those fans that are talking about just was wondering if there was any other way. I'll ask my mate to check the BIOS for fan profiles, since I'm getting a Internet Speed Upgrade soon so his hosting at his premises since you know Australia, 10/1 Speeds. I like your options C)

I just need some alternative, would I be able to manage the fan RPM's in Ubuntu for example since I know your able to control these settings in windows, and desktops just dunno about servers. Just bought this big plomp of compute power.

Cheers Mitch

Your welcome! Theoretically you should be able to control the fan curve with third party software, it just depends on what the MOBO manufacturer decided to do with their BIOS, as in essence, a computer is a computer, and it runs all the same basic software as a desktop, I even use a few old desktops as home servers.

Hey LinusTT Community,

Me and my mates just recently purchases a second hand 1U Server; Just the norm specs.

CPU: i5-4400

RAM: 4GB DDR3

Storage: 2TB WD Purple

Anyway, my issue is noise. Watch the video below that explains it for you. Is there anyway that I would be able to lower the volume of these fans, I know 1U servers are generally loud for the most part. Like at my school they have blade servers etc, and there isn't as much noise as this one server combined quite funny right. Anyway we are on a tight budget seeing as we bought I low-to-mid level spec'd machine. If your able to help out every post is greatly appricitaed.

-Thanks Mitch, []DarkStar#3147

Welcome to the LTT forums! I would love to help you, but all I can recommend is A) check your BIOS and see if you can change the fan profile,  B) buy these fans, or and or C) throw it in the farthest corner of your home, and when you need to use it wear good closed back headphones.....

what model of server is this? You can often make the fans run at a lower voltage to make it quieter.

Not sure on that one mate, I'll have to ask my friend. The bios is like an actual Intel BIOS so I think its a specific from Intel themselves, not to sure I'll ask my friend but his a ruby training he will be back later and i'll get back to ya.

Cheers
