Am I being "Bottle-necked"?

HRH

I recently built a system with an i5-660 Cpu, an AMD Radeon 5870 1GB (ever so slightly over-clocked), 16GB DDR3 and an HP 'MSI' OEM motherboard. I've got a VS550 PSU if that helps. I have recently installed some games and have noticed that my Cpu is almost always at 100% in game but my Gpu is normally around 20%. This is a Cpu bottleneck for sure?! But bottleneck calculators say there isn't a bottleneck. As you can tell this is a budget build so I need to fix this cheaply. Does anyone have any ideas for any Cpu's I could use?

Sounds like the CPU cant keep up.

What's your budget?

Where are you located?

What is your display's native resolution?

What game/s do you play?

I'm in the UK and my budget is like £75, I use a 1080p 60Hz monitor. I tested Fortnite and Apex Legends and will mostly play them and CS:GO.

Given how old your system is, unless you get a good deal on the used market, you're going to need more than that. Preferably you should upgrade the motherboard, CPU, and possibly RAM (depending on what you go to).

If the motherboard can be upgraded/compatible yeah, the 3 series and 4 series CPUs are cheap and have good performance (for the cost).

Though my 3470 cost me £50 :P

My bad, never knew there were ZXeons with similar numbering to the i5s...

It might be possible to get a 3000 series chip for £50 and a mobo for £25 if you shop around!
