Hey guys,

So I know that at this point the mechanical vs membrane isn't even a question anymore, but I have an issue here; since I'm really bad at choosing one thing between two, I came here in hope to find help. So I've been looking around for a good keyboard under 50€, and on Amazon I've found a Cooler Master Masterkeys Lite L Combo at 46€ (used, very good conditions, minor scratches); but then I found a fully RGB and mechanical keyboard (Trust GXT 890) at 45€. I have no idea what to choose. The Lite L comes with a mouse (which I don't really need now but may come in handy in the future) but the Trust is mechanical (Otemu Red switches) and comes with driver support and software for macros and addressable RGB.

Please help!!!

Depends, do you like clicky loud keys or softer quieter keys?

neither of those keyboards is mechanical, what's the thread about? are you asking for a mech keyboard in the same price bracket?

I'm asking if the 3€ more is worth the mouse and the more fluid RGB at the cost of mechanical membrane

Topre does not use a sensing membrane. Thinking of it as membrane is just wrong.

The actuation is different, yes, but it's still a rubber dome keyboard at the end of the day. They both have that same sensation when you collapse the dome that is unpleasant, and the spring underneath actually makes bottoming out a little more uncomfortable than a straight rubber dome.

I'm pretty sure my purpose in life is to serve as a warning for others.

Rubber dome is not the same as using a membrane. It's a capacitive switch. The spring is also for sensing the keystroke, not for the key feel.

:)

You need to go to a store like Best Buy and try some out.  Membrane might be fine for you.  Honestly I think mechanical keyboards are overrated.  I got one to help with my joint pain, but before that my $1 thrift store keyboard worked just fine.  It's a very subjective decision.  Just try the different keyboards out, typing stuff out with your eyes closed.

No electronics stores with keyboards on display?  I find that hard to believe.  It doesn't have to be a Best Buy specifically.
