You have to buy ram in Dual Channel kits for a reason, they are matched pairs.

Send the ram back and buy a dual channel kit, and just use that memory only.

I'd start by pulling the CMOS battery and resetting the BIOS to defaults.  Even after flashing you may still have BIOS settings carried over from your previous configuration.

Try one stick at a time. If the first one works, pull it out and try the other stick. If the next stick doesn't work RMA your ram.

Just realized that you were talking about a Windows issue at this point.  This shouldn't be related to the RAM, but RAM can cause all sorts of weird things to happen if you get a bad stick.  Test each stick individually and then in dual channel with a tool like Memtest.  Make sure you are good there first.  It's best to let it run for multiple passes as well (I've had bad RAM pass 4 out of 5 passes before).

After you've confirmed your RAM is good, start with the BIOS reset.  That isn't likely going to fix Windows but still not a bad place to start.  If you're getting this BSOD on boot, you should be getting more info than just the error code (a file name and/or more description).  You could try getting in to safe mode and running an sfc scan or DISM restore health, but that's assuming you can get that far.

If both work, that's good. Sounds like Windows wasn't shut down properly and it's decided to freak out for no reason. I've never run into it, but I suppose just let it do its thing. It shouldn't affect any files, it will tell you otherwise.

RAM can be quite finicky regarding the timings. Go into the BIOS/UEFI, load "Optimised Defaults" (or the ASUS equivalent), save the settings and reboot into Windows. Test to see if you get you're still getting that error code Now, back into the BIOS/UEFI to set XMP, save and reboot. Sometimes the "automatic"secondary timings can play havoc with memory and getting the motherboard to "retrain" the timings is necessary.

Notes:

  • I couldn't find your RAM on the QVL list for your motherboard but that might just mean that ASUS hasn't tested that particular RAM rather than it is incompatible.
  • When updating your BIOS, always load "Optimised Defaults" (or equivalent for your BIOS/UEFI) before starting the flash.

I would send back the ram and get some that's on the supported list.

He has a different MB than you.

You need to get ram that is on the GVL list for your MB.

The ones I linked too are and will work.
