Wow Thank you Den-Fi.com ,,,,, That is insane,, so I guess it will fit.  I wonder how 64 threads will look like hehe.

It is just that, wishul thinking.  I don't think I did anything wrong with the thread.  If it bothered you I truly apologize.  :)

I think in your case, it would be safest to assume someone has already posted the information.

Not meant to be an insult, just going by your track record here.

I've been out of the game for a bit. Do we think these leaks are credible enough to hold off on starting my 9900K build?

I personally can not guarantee the leaked information from December.  I wouldn't put my life on the line that's for sure.  However the 16 core 32threads might cost 500 dollars about the same as a 8 core 9900k.  Now which one would you rather have ?  That is a big might. nothing is for sure until another month or two.

Hold it off my friend until Zen 2 comes out in July.  Just hang in there about 2 more months and well have the Zen 2

Hold off your 9900k purchase as the way it is looking you can get a 16core 32 thread CPU for 500 to 600 dollars.  Your basically paying the price of a 9900k but you get 8 more cores and 32 threads.  It will destroy the 9900k.  The only thing the 9900k has going for it right now is the single core performance.  But honestly who cares if you get 10fps less if you go Zen 2 ……. I mean really wtf is 10fps its nothing when your already at triple digit fps to begin with.

There's no logical reason for AMD to release a 16 mainstream CPU right now.

If they release a 12 core chip that competes with the 9900k in single threaded performance, it already has Intel beaten and there's no benefit of throwing down the 16 core card.

My prediction:

Launch chips:

"Ryzen 7 3700" 8/16 4.7ghz boost $299-349

"Ryzen 7 3800" 12/24 4.5ghz boost $449-499

A couple months later:

"Ryzen 5 3600" 6/12 4.7ghz boost $199

"Ryzen 3 3300" 4/8 4.5ghz boost $119

And a couple months later:

"Ryzen 3 3350G" 4/8 4.5ghz boost w/navi 10 graphics"

"Ryzen 5 3650G" 6/12 4.7ghz boost w/Navi 12 graphics"

And once Intel launches their 10-core Comet lake:

"Ryzen 9 3900x" 16/32, 4.8ghz boost

Good post Piutosaurus.....  Me personally Im gonna jump on the Threadripper 32 core 64 threads and I don't care if my single core performance gives 10 less fps or so...  I need the CPU for my DAW Sonar Platinum.  Gaming is secondary and honestly if you get 170fps with the Ripper , but same scenario 9900k gives 185fps... I mean can you really tell the difference with 170fps or 185fps.. No you can't.

I'm not upgrading from my 8700k likely for 3 years still, but I might be getting a new system for my wife and then turn her 1600 into a dedicated Plex/media server/tv gaming system.

At that point, I might consider the 3000 series but it will definitely be a mini itx build.

Your 8700k @ 5Ghz is good enough to last you many years,, not just 3 years.  My CPU is 7 years old and still today its relevant and fast and powerful.  If I had a 8700k @ 5ghz I would not consider a CPU upgrade for long long time like I said before.  The only thing you really need to upgrade is the video card every couple years.

It might, but who knows?

I've gone with ~5 year upgrade schedule and it's worked for me.

Athlon 64 3000+ in '03, Q9450 in '08, then i5-4570 in '13, and then 8700k in December 17.

If there's a 12c/24t Zen 2 that can boost to 4.8Ghz for less than $400 I'll be all over that. I bought my 9700K for Premiere Pro mostly but I've since switched to Hitfilm which is more efficient with rendering, so I have no real reason to stay Intel. I even have a friend who wants to buy my CPU and mobo if I switch, so he can get better FPS in CS:GO and Fortnite (both games I never play).

But until then any leaks are just speculation, especially from places like AdoredTV who seem to have a raging hard on for AMD enough to make them blatantly biased.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.
