Which cpu is warmer?

You're comparing a 95W with a 65W TDP CPU, with the i9 and i7 respectively, the i9 is obviously running hotter..

 

I think the reason people complained about 8700 temps were because it had a stock cooler included, which was not adequate for the chip.

9900k i think may run just a smidgin hotter.

Same microarchitecture, 8 cores vs 6, both have hyperthreading, 

 

Oh and one is a notoriously power hungry chip

 

Yeah I'm gonna say the 9900k is the obvious answer

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

It depends on the cooling system. You could have the i7-8700K running hotter by sticking a dinky cooler on it while giving the i9-9900K a full blown water cooling kit.

 

Now if it's the same cooler and without overclocking, the i9-9900K will run hotter because it outputs more heat.
