Worth upgrading my CPU?

Hi all. Just wondered if it was worth upgrading my processor. 

I've currently got an i3 8350k, RTX 2080, 16GB DDR4 2666Mhz & 1TB SSD. 

I game at 1440p and my RTX 2080 maxes all games out at 60Hz anyway, so I'm not sure if an upgrade is worth it seeing as it won't actually have any noticeable effect. 

I'd probably look to get an i5 9400 or i5 8400. 

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

If you're happy with 60fps as is, no need to upgrade

If you're happy with your current rig, it's fine.

 

Does the CPU reach 100%? You can try overclocking it instead of upgrading.

Tomshardware showed that with a decent Overlock on that chip it was keeping up with the 8700 within a reasonable margin given the price and performance delta up front, in the FPS department.
