Overclocking R5 2600x, which ram.

Ero

So I was about to buy a Msi x470 plus but they ran out of stock. So now I plan to get Asus TUF x470 gaming and I wanna know how far I can push R5 2600x on it?

And for rams should I get 4x8gb rams or 2x16 rams? Which perform better and how far I can overclock the rams? can I achieve above 3200mhz on that motherboard?

save some money, buy an MSI B450 Tomahawk.

That board is not only more affordable, but actually has better VRM and OC-ability of CPU, RAM frequencies up to 3466Mhz

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

In here there is only Asus boards for B450. Prime, TUS, and rog strix.

For Msi we have X370 gaming pro, x370 gaming plus, x370 gaming M7, and x470 gaming pro and it may sound a little crazy but Asus x470 TUF is the cheapest board I can buy (150 usd), the rest are around 200 usd and x470 gaming pro reachs 300 usd.

for gaming you only need 16gb

just get ram which comes stock as 3200mhz instead of overclocking lower clocked memory since overclocks aren't guaranteed

I don't plan to only game on it so 32gb is the lowest I can go.

Also I will get a 3200mhz or higher ram, for now my plan is to get a corsair vengeance LPX 3200mhz but it have 2 versions, 2x16gb and 4x8gb and I don't know which one to choice.

Well, no idea then. I mostly recommend either MSI or Asrock mobos, as Asus ones are incredibly-ridiculously overpriced for their performance and features.

I'd pick dual ram kit though. 2x16gb

whichever is cheaper. if they're the same price then get 2x16gb for the option to upgrade to 64gb in the future(if necessary, probably not)

There is a Biostar x470 GT8 too. What about MSI x370 gaming plus? 150usd? Is it better than TUF x470?

I would pick 2*16GB ram as ryzen doesn’t support quad channel. You would run in double double channel basically.

also what B450 boards do they have available as a X470 is overkill for a 2600x, unless you want to heavily overclock it.

Can you order online or does it have to be from a particular store?

Please consult @_d0nut signature, "motherboard tier list". And also there is a AM4 mobo tier list in my signature as well. The MSI board is better, but I don't believe you don't have access to Tomahawk or Asrock B450 Steel legend. Both are cheaper and has very well built VRM-s

From the mentioned ones: Biostar seems a reasonable pick, though I don't know their mobos.

In my country Ryzen is not popular at all so for B450 only Asus prime B450-plus, TUF gaming and rog strix are available and in order they are 145 usd, 150 usd and 210 usd.

Also I plan to overclock my cpu to the max and probably will get an aio too.

And for x470 we have TUF gaming, Asus prime pro, MSI gaming pro and Biostar GT8. Their price are 140usd, 240usd, 250usd and 170usd.

It's not really even worth overclocking Zen+ as you generate stupid amounts of heat for a very minor clock speed increase. Most of, if not all of Zen + tends to max out at 4.1-4.2 at 1.38v (safe max)

Well I plan to use a RTX 2080 so I need maximum performance so later I will buy a R9 3850x and an x470 motherboard.

Let XFR2/PBO do it's thing it will boost itself to 4.05 to 4.1 and single core will be probably around 4.25-4.3. There is very little performance increase game wise even with manually overclocking Zen+. Also no one actually OFFICIALLY knows what Zen 2 CPU's will be.

Anyway I plan to get another cpu later, whatever was at top of the line at that time and thank you for the answer.

No problem just remember Zen+ undervolt and low temps help with XFR2/PBO. Otherwise if you are gonna go down the road of manually overclocking I would recommend a voltage max of 1.35v for daily to prevent degradation.
