Recently bought a 970 evo-plus. It's my first foray into nvme drives so im a bit clueless. I ran some synthetic benchmarks and it runs basically slower across the board no matter what i do. Im wondering if this is a issue with the platform i'm running it on or if its an issue with the chip or something else entirely.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 7

CPU: Intel 6700k 4.5Ghz

RAM: 32GB Corsair 3000mhz

GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6GB

Here some screenshots. It caps out at 2.5gb/s. From other review sites ive seen i could reasonably expect 3.0gb/s or higher in ATTO. Any ideas what my issue reaching full speed is?

have you installed anything to it?

Also make sure the review site you're checking doesn't use Samsung RAPID mode, that's basically creating a RAM disk and letting benchmark tools write to your system memory instead

Hello everyone,

i purchased today the Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB.

I already had a Samsung SSD 970 EVO 500GB on which is the OS W10Pro installed for months now and the speeds are the same as the Samsung store vendor specify.

But, for the 970 EVO Plus version the speeds are much worse than 970 EVO normal version and this is not normal when Samsung states that the speed are higher. On them link store page they write:

" The 970 EVO Plus reaches sequential read/write speeds up to 3,500/3,300 MB/s, up to 53% faster than the 970 EVO."

https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/970evoplus/

Here is the picture/screenshot from Samsung magician software. Can clearly see the both 970 normal & Plus ssd's speed test.

I sent an email to Samsung but of course no answer yet and who knows if i will ever get an answer...

I was think to return this asap and get a replacement but maybe there is something i need to do 1st in bios or some other settings so this is why i post in here. I mean, i'm kinda afraid to get the replacement and get the same results.

My mobo is: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-X470-PRO/

The 970 evo plus ssd is on the botom M2 slot while the normal one is on the top slot under the cpu.

Also, my CPU is Ryzen 7 2700x.

Update, i did this benchmark test:

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/16267383

Any suggestions please ?!

like read the mobo specification, the second M.2 goes through chipset and it's only PCI-e 3.0 x2

1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M Key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 2 mode)*2

have the 500GB 970 Plus with 3200 read and 2650 write on a X570 TUF on Bottom m.2 Port.

that look OK for me.
