Mac Pro 2008 graphics upgrade issue

I just got an old mac pro 3,1 from 2008 and had a spare gtx 750 ti, so I thought it would be a nice upgrade.

*running osx 10.11.6 el capitan

After installing the cuda and webdrivers I rebooted it and changed out the gc but got no display out.

Anyone know what the issue could be?

I think Macs from that far back require specific Mac version cards. I remember having to get Mac versions of the ATI 850xt for an upgrade I did back then.

I believe not having a Mac-specific card will only cause the initial boot screen to not be shown. Once the OS and graphics drivers are loaded, it should work fine. It does seem odd that OP is not getting a display out though, given he installed the web drivers before adding the GPU into the mix.
