Non PWM fans with PWN Hub

FeTix

Is there any way i could change the speed of the sp120s if theyre plugged into a pwn fan hub?

Preferably i would like it so when my cpu gets hotter and hotter all of the fans get faster as 2 will be on my radiator!

Anyone know what i can do?

Motherbaord: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5

Fans: Corsair SP120 RGB

Fan hub: (The fan hub is of a NZXT Noctis 450)

In theory the PWM hub should change the speed of the fans (3-pin fans don't constantly run at max), but there's no guarantee that the hub can adjust voltage to the fan (which is how you control 3-pin fan speed) like the motherboard fan header would.

Just connect them straight to motherboard if you want individual control for those two.

if your hub supports voltage control instead of PWM you should be fine, if not - double check if you have set the actual pwm controler on the motherboard, connected to your hub is set to PWM and not to voltage. ( your hub needs pwm conection to the motherboard) - most hubs do support pwm and voltage (to the fans) - the connector to the motherboard must be set to pwm normally

The hub you have is pwm in that it receives a pwm signal but doesn't send a pwm signal to the fans attached. It converts the incoming pwm signal into a corresponding dc signal which will work for controlling 2-3pin fans. If you want the fans to respond to cpu temps, plugging the hub into the cpu_fan or other header that supports pwm control and using the motherboard fan settings would work.

A normal pwm fan would send a pwm signal which is a constant 12v signal and would mean 100% rpm for 2-3pin fans.
