Optiplex 7010 mini tower upgrades.

I bought a Dell Optiplex 7010 mt this morning as my Optiplex 980 sff is dying a slow painful death due to age.
The new oem machine seems alright for my needs with a core i5 3470, 8gb of ram, one 1tb, 4 usb 3 ports, and integrated gma 4000 graphics, I could swap my 980's HD6570 in until I get either a gt1030 or if I have the money next week or week after a 1050 and I'll probably swap the psu too.
What I want to know is if it would be a good idea to consider changing the processor, I've got no problems with what it already has but I want to have options for the future if there's even anything compatible with the 7010's mobo in the first place.
I prefer using oem pc, I'ts just more cost effective for me so any cheap upgrades you can think of would also be nice, plus the 7010 looks sharp.

fyi, the i5-3470 has Intel HD2500 graphics, not HD4000.  The i5-3475s and i7-3770 offers HD4000.

The fastest official cpu option for the Optiplex 7010/9010 you could consider is the i7-3770 if you need the extra performance.

Before you do that, make sure Dell wasnt a bastard and used a proprietary PSU. Lots of OEM's do this now, where the pin out is different on the connectors and motherboard. So a off the self PSU would not work because of this. Though I have heard of people de pinning off the shelf PSU's and changing the wiring order to work.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

It was from the amazon post, I found out after looking up cpu specs on Intel's site and just never edited the post, my bad.
Seems like an ok upgrade for the future, so far I've had so much better performance over my old pc that I don't mind the i5 for now.
It also has a 3570 not 3470, so either I messed up, or the seller did.

So far, it seems to be a standard (Dell branded) psu.
From the info I vaguely recall when I looked up stuff about the computer on Dell's site, the supply ought to be good enough for a 1050.

A cheap upgrade would be getting an SSD and getting something like a 1050Ti All PSUs in that series have less than 300W PSU and I wouldn't trust those to drive anything more than that card.
The Optiplex 7010 has a fairly standard PSU, my gf has one of those with a 3770 and I upgraded her PSU to a Seasonic Pure Power 10 400W as well as a 1060.

This video helped me out.

7010/9010/T1650 MT can use any standard ATX psu. Ensure the SATA power connectors are right-angled variety, otherwise you may not be able to close the case door if you have any 3.5" hard drives installed.

Some USB3 and HDMI issues/fixes described here

I tried to watch the video but I'm having internet issues at the moment (my isp sucks) how much is that particular supply?

I've inadvertently discovered this when I put a second drive in and had to find another angled data cable.

I more meant price, but good to know that a 400watt will do none the less.
My net seems to be back...

Would this be good?
It's got a pair of right angle sata for my drives as well as some pcie, molex, and floppy stuff that I probably won't use

That one will be adequate.

The most extreme and expensive upgrade is taken care of, so far performance has been orgasmic, nothing seems to be getting too hot, not even the psu.
I do still plan on replacing the power supply, doubling my ram, and possibly swapping out the cpu, but as is, this is the best performing pc I've ever used.

For anyone still wondering about this, I can confirm which sized power supply will work in the optiplex 7010 mini tower. I installed the seasonic S12ii 620 watt, but really any power supply with dimensions of 6 x 5.5 x 3.3 inches (150 x 140 x 86mm) and a 24-pin main connector should fit perfectly. I was also able to get a geforce GTX 1070 mini installed - it just grazes 1 of the SATA cables, but still fits no problem.

Almost forgot about this thread.
I have in fact updated the psu to evga 650 gs a few weeks ago and even have the memory up to 16gb and added a 1tb mech drive, can't close the side panel right now but I'm not to bothered by that, better than turning the old psu in a 4th of July show.
