PC for Gaming (Some Game Development)

I've never built a PC before, so I'm going to need some help with this, especially with all the new releases and stuff. My budget is around $1500-1600 USD, and I'm looking to build a PC primarily for Triple A gaming (possibly streaming), but that can also handle Adobe programs and Unreal Engine. Right now, I have the HP Omen 25" monitor which runs at 1080p, 144hz, and I already have all the peripherals that I need, but I will need Windows.

You should wait for the new chips, they're so close

 

Though, you're overspending on "Premium" products when you can save probably about 2-300$

Not really, all but the SSD and memory are overpriced because they are the "fancy gaming" models, while the PSU is just plain overkill. The memory here is also gamer-y but the price is attractive so I'm fine with that

 

I can easily slash $250 off while still getting a faster GPU

Motherboard almost made me spit coffee out onto my keyboard   Holy shit's expensive.

 

Drop that CPU cooler and get a sub-$200 motherboard, you're not LN2 cooling here.  

 

Drop that NVMe for SATA.

 

Then up that GPU a few steps and you're good.  Into the 2080 or 1080Ti realm.

Yeah I really don't know what I'm doing. Could you recommend a good motherboard with some overclocking support and WiFi? Also why would I switch to SATA if NVMe is only a bit more expensive?

I might argue with that, OP seems like they're doing some workstation tasks- NVMe might be useful in their situation.

Seems like a good build, but I'm probably going to go with an ATX system, because space doesn't really matter to me.

With double the capacity for the same price, how is NVMe only a bit more expensive?

 

If it fits your use case, go NVMe.  I don't know how big the files are in game development, but didn't think they were big enough to warrant the price bump.

The two big premium parts are the Motherboard and Powersupply. You can also find much cheaper ram. You can put together a much better PC for about $200 less just by changing those 3 I'll edit your part list a bit and keep the case and what not the same because you want an ATX build. Is this a workstation or gaming build?

Sata SSD means M.2 or 2.5" sizes.  M.2 isn't just NVMe.    The WD Blue is 1TB of space for the same price as the 500GB Black NVMe, in the same form.

Here’s a another one- pulled off a 2080, swapped from an amd chip to an intel i5, and went back to a full atx case.

Your cooler - a dark rock pro 4: it's cheaper than an AIO and performs just as well

Motherboard - B450 Tomahawk would do fine, if you want to overclock better find a decent x470 board, under 200$

Ram - Not sure if you need to overspend on 3600mhz ram, I know running ryzen above 3200 is quite difficult 

Case - 200$ for something with okay airflow, when you could spend 90$ on a case with great airflow and and still keep the same glass panel look

Basically you were spending a lot of money on SUPPORT components that only left you with a small amount for the actual PERFORMANCE parts.

 

Just trying to get you a more balanced built that makes sense and gives you the most performance for your dollar without cheaping out on anything.

 

@LukeSavenije and @Herman Mcpootis rock some very nice builds as well.

It is, though getting it to run at that speed will prove to be difficult. There's a sweetspot around 3000.
