Hello guys and gal, I have an acer aspire one kav60 with an intel atom n280 at 1.66 ghz (fast i know), i was hoping to overclock this for fun and to see if i could get it to play a youtube video at more than 15 fps. I cant find its pll anywhere online and there are 0 overclocking options, though it does have a fan that can spool up if need be when over clocking. If anyone knows the pll or where i can find it, or knows an overclocking program that supports this one that would be awesome! Thanks.

Firetruck will never die.

you would burn out the chip theres no good cooling for the cpu and most laptops dont have over clockable cpus, so dnint

Use SetFSB after you find the PLL of your chip (a quick Google search should do it), and then gradually increase the multiplier until you hit 1.9GHz. At 2.0GHz the network interfaces stop working, and at 2.2 it will shut down. Just make sure you have good cooling, or it will get toasty. Trust me. I am good with OCing netbooks. Look in my sig if you don't believe me.

Only one way to find out. ;) If it doesn't work, it won't do anything, most likely.

But I'm pretty sure it should be.

I'm pretty sure the chip is locked and the Bios is custom and have been locked down with zero overclocking options anyway. That has been my experience with laptops, unless there is some custom bios flash you can do or some crazy trick to get into the full bios. If you could. You would have a cooling problem anyway.

Well, since I can't think straight right now, read this article and hopefully it will be of some help. If not, I'll try to help out in about 12 hours.

EDIT: It would help if I put the article in, wouldn't it? http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9139642/5_ways_to_overclock_a_netbook_really_

There is a program called ThrottleStop. With it you can force the processor to run at turbo frequency across all cores all the time. Sometimes there is even the option to adjust multiplier, depending on the model of your laptop. Make sure to start it every time you boot into Windows.

PS: I overclocked with this program my Asus Lamborghini VX6 Notebook and it was fine.

My netbooks pll isnt in setfsb so I just have throttlestop forcing the CPU to max speed and I was able to undervolt it to .9 volts too. Runs cooler and gets better battery.
