Hi all,

Pretty certain this belongs here.

Every time I turn my computer and try to play or do anything that isn't look at my wall paper this Google Chrome process opens up and slows everything down.

The other 8 Chrome processes are from Chrome actually being used, this one is just a dick.

I've done a few different Google searches, but no variation of the phrase "Why is Chrome using 60+ percent of my CPU for no damn reason" comes up with anything that is helpful.

I can just close it, and it won't start again until is turn my PC on and off again, even if I actually open Chrome at some stage, but it's obnoxious.

Does anyone know how to permanently fix this?

Thanks everyone :)

Check if chrome starts up at boot, might load some extensions in the background without actually opening chrome itself.

Make sure to Mark solved, makes it much easier for someone who finds the topic with the same problem to find the solution!

I'm sitting here with 5 tabs open and it is not using anywhere near that much. I have quite the number of tabs and extensions, but it's only using 1.5%. That seems a bit excessive.  If I were you I would reinstall Chrome. But if that doesn't work go and get The Great Tab Suspender from the Chrome Webstore; https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/the-great-suspender/klbibkeccnjlkjkiokjodocebajanakg This suspends non-active tabs - it might be able to help.

Bow down to me humans.

I can't help if you don't quote me. How am I supposed to know if you need my premium support? Now starting at £399.99 a year.

Also, be a sport and mark the correct answer as the correct answer. It will help pour souls in the future when they are stuck and need guidance.

"If it works, proceed to take it apart and 'make it work better.' Then cry for help when it breaks." - Me, about five minutes ago when my train of thought wandered.

Remember kids, A janky solution is still a solution.
