Help for choosing the best gaming processor between these two for my first build.

i5 8600K or i5 9600K.

Which one is better with an RTX 2060 (Founders Edition).

But if it's available I'd get the I7-8700K if it's cheaper or comparable in price to the 9600K

That wouldn't be advisable in this situation as his use case as stated is gaming.

An i5-9600K running at 4.3GHz will beat an i7-8700K running at 4.4GHz in many games by relatively quite a considerable margin:

CPU: Intel Core i5-8600K [Delidded | Frequency: 5.1GHz | vCore: 1.45v - Fuck Intel | Cache: 4800MHz | VCCIO: 1.175 | SA: 1.20]

GPU: MSI GTX 1080 Ti ARMOR 11G OC [Core: 2113MHz | Memory: + 1000MHz | Voltage: 1.181v | XOC BIOS]

RAM: TEAM GROUP DARK PRO EDITION [Capacity: 16GB - 8GB x 2 | Frequency: 3866MHz | Timings: 16-16-16-36]

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z370-A

PSU: SeaSonic PRIME Ultra 1000W

Case: Fractal S2 Meshify

No, actually 8700K is almost 18K (INR) extra compared to 8600K or 9600K.

And considering its my first proper gaming (more than 2 core) rig is should save that for future upgrades and build.

Anyway still thanks guys for your help.

well the 9600k is faster but either would be fine with a 2060

With the I7-8700K You'll get an added 6 logical processor cores, making it 6c/12t, allowing you to take advantage of hyperthreading.

Hyperthreading in games allows for decreased CPU usage. Unused cores can be allocated to other tasks like running game servers, chat servers or clients (like Discord and Teamspeak) and streaming.

But I do agree that if it's STRICTLY gaming, OP will get by perfectly with the 6c/6t I5 processor.

Actually, I won't be streaming games and stuff.

It's for Pure Gaming purpose plus some editing (not of any considerable amount).

A little off topic question.

Will the Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU cooler will be enough for 8600K or should I buy AIO.
